Using paints for suede and its varieties: blue and others

People learned to use leather a long time ago. The skins of killed animals protected their bodies from the cold. After people learned to make them soft, the era of diverse leather use began, which continues to this day. One of the varieties that has found wide use is suede.

Type of suede shoes

This material can be natural or artificial. Natural is produced by dressing the skins of domestic and wild animals. Things made from it are durable, look solid, and do not let water through. A wide variety of products are made from suede itself and materials close to it. These are various types of suede shoes and outerwear.

But such shoes are not suitable for everyday wear, as they require special care. But if you use the product skillfully, it will last for several years.

Artificial suede is produced in two varieties:

1. A synthetic coating is applied to the fabric base, which is then processed with a laser using the grinding method. As a result of this processing, pile is formed. The base is made of either artificial or natural fiber. The material is then treated with water-repellent substances;
2. Microfiber is fluffed up on special equipment until pile is formed. The resulting material is superior in quality to the previous one by several times, and is close in quality to natural suede.

Very similar to suede nubuck. Nubuck leather is a tanned hide of cattle. It is divided into natural and artificial. However, the appearance of suede shoes is much different from nubuck both in color and quality.

It is also easy to confuse velour with suede. But it is made using a different technology and cheaper raw materials.

It turns out that suede, in its main qualities, surpasses both velour and nubuck. Things made from it look more refined and practically do not absorb water.

Just like smooth leather, suede and nubuck are used to make a wide variety of footwear, and more. These include: shoes, sandals, boots, half-boots, ankle boots, boots, half-boots. They also make gloves, handbags, clothes, and furniture covers.

Paint for nubuck and suede is produced in the form of aerosol, liquid and cream and can be bought in any shoe store. But when buying this product, be sure to study the composition and instructions.

It is necessary to ensure that the composition necessarily includes water-repellent substances. Liquid dye for nubuck and suede is applied to shoes with a special sponge.

Different colors of spray paints

To ensure that the product retains its presentable appearance for longer, it is necessary to adhere to the following rules.

• It is necessary to determine the type of leather. For coarse pile and nubuck (men's or winter products), liquid or cream paint is better. For thin leather (shoes), it is worth buying an aerosol.
• When buying dye, you should always have a color sample or a photo of the shoes that need to be dyed.
• You should always buy several packs to make sure you have enough.
• Shoe paint is not cheap. If the product is inexpensive, then it is worth buying a new pair and not bothering with painting.
• But if painting is still necessary, then the shoes should be thoroughly cleaned and dried before painting.
• It is also worth straightening the pile using a rubber brush, which is sold with the paint.
• First, test the paint on an inconspicuous area. This is necessary so that the color does not turn out darker or lighter.
• The painting is done using a special sponge.
• The paint is squeezed onto the sponge and evenly distributed over the product.
• Let it dry. Time - at least 24 hours.
• Comb the pile.

Currently, the industry produces enough varieties of dyes. And no matter what color the shoes are, blue, gray-blue, blue, yellow or pink, everyone will find a suitable color for themselves. The most commonly used are: brown, black, beige. But for some reason, black paint for suede is most often asked for. Most likely, there is an opinion that black is the most practical. However, at present, more and more products are painted gray or blue.

Blue looks sophisticated, elegant and a little extravagant. Most often these are shoes, boots, demi-season boots. Liquid blue paint for suede is available in all shades: from dark blue to light blue. Well, if you only have one color at hand, you can dilute it with white or black colors until you get the desired shade.

The easiest and fastest way to paint thin suede and velour is with an aerosol. You can easily find different colors of aerosol paints in the store. They are produced in metal cans complete with a special brush. Since modern shoes are painted in a variety of colors, paints are also produced in different shades. However, blue paint for suede shoes is rare. And in aerosol form you can buy only one color - pure blue.

Since suede differs from other types of leather by the presence of pile, then dyeing has its own characteristics. Colored aerosol dyes are best suited for this purpose. This method is the fastest and will not harm the suede itself.

To paint your shoes yourself using a spray can, you need to have some skill. It is unlikely that you will get a good result right away.

Instructions for use

To spray paint shoes, boots or shoes efficiently, you will need to follow a certain order:

1. Clean and dry shoes, boots, and shoes.
2. Fill the inside of the shoe to keep it in shape and prevent staining.
3. Wear protective clothing, gloves and glasses.
4. Cover the area where painting will take place with oilcloth or paper.
5. All paints have a smell. The room where the painting will be done must be well ventilated.
6. Apply paint from a certain distance. Usually it is 10-20 cm.
7. To achieve the desired result, the painting process is repeated several times. Moreover, each layer must be allowed to dry.
8. When the paint dries, the product must be “combed” with a special rubber sponge.

If done correctly, the shoes will retain their color throughout the season.

How to Protect Yourself from Spray Paints

Aerosol paint, like any chemical product, is harmful to health. During the painting process, it can get on the skin, in the eyes, in the respiratory system. Therefore, everyone should know how to protect themselves from aerosol paints:

• for the eyes - glasses or a glass shield;
• for hands - rubber gloves;
• for the body - overalls or clothing that covers all skin;
• for respiratory organs - respirator, bandage.

If you do not follow safety precautions, then with prolonged use of paint, you can harm your health:

• When painting shoes or other products with spray paint, be sure to use personal protective equipment.
• It is necessary to remove strangers, especially children, from the room where painting is being carried out.
