Making Slimes (Lizuns) from Paper - Methods and Recipes

One of the best anti-stress toys is slime. You can not only always carry it with you, but also show your individuality with it. Now you can make these slimes yourself, experimenting with their appearance and consistency. If earlier their composition was standard - guar gum and tetraborate, now you can even make slimes from paper.

Slime - what is it and what does it look like

Slime is translated from English as "slime". In reality, it is a shapeless anti-stress toy that looks like slime. Slimes are often called lickers. They can be bought at any children's or office supply store, or you can make them yourself from improvised means.

The history of this unusual toy began back in 1976. It was during this period that Mattel introduced slime to the public. Outwardly, it resembled a thick mucous substance, capable of taking any shape, just like now.

Since then, other American companies have produced slimes, many of which have appeared in movies, cartoons, and shows. Surely, everyone knows or has at least seen what slime is.

If the first anti-stress toys were made on the basis of sodium tetraborate and guar gum, now their composition has undergone many changes. Every child can make a slime at home from glue, toilet paper, soap, shampoo and other components.

What kind of paper base is suitable?

If you need to use paper to make your slime, paper towels, napkins, or thin toilet paper will work well. Additional ingredients may include:

• detergent;
• liquid soap;
• shaving foam;
• film mask;
• plasticine;
• glue and many others.

In general, the slime preparation procedure involves mixing soap, shampoo or another gel-like substance with shredded paper. Then add a thickener, dye and, if desired, glitter, sequins and other decorative elements.

From toilet paper, film mask and shaving foam

To make homemade slime, you will need the following ingredients:

• film mask;
• shaving foam;
• toilet paper or towel;
• shampoo;
• nasal drops;
• soda;
• baby cream;
• capacity, spoon.

Place 5-6 teaspoons of the mask in a prepared container, add 1 teaspoon of shampoo and mix these components thoroughly. Then you can carefully add 3-4 teaspoons of shaving foam, shredded toilet paper and a spoonful of cream. Mix everything well again and add a few drops for the nose as a thickener (Naphthyzinum, Pharmazolin, etc.).

The result is a white slimy mass that can be decorated with any dye or glitter.

Recipe with regular plasticine

To make slimes yourself, you don't have to resort to expensive components, many of them are in every home. So for slime you will need a package of plasticine and gelatin. The preparation procedure consists of several stages:

1. Pour water in the volume indicated on the gelatin packet and the gelatin itself into a small saucepan. The liquid should heat up, but not boil. Then remove from heat and leave to cool for an hour.
2. After the time has elapsed, it is recommended to put the pan back on low heat and heat the mixture again. This is necessary so that all the gelatin granules are dissolved.
3. At the same time, a block of plasticine is kneaded, after which 50 g of water is added per 100 g.
4. The final stage is mixing the two masses and moving them to the refrigerator.

From paper and soap

Slime made of paper and soap is a simple and popular option. To make it, you need to thoroughly mix water and liquid soap in a closed container to form a stable foam. Next, add small pieces of paper and any thickener. The last component can be drops for lenses or nose.

From paper and water

It is impossible to make slime from these two elements alone, but adding a few more ingredients makes it possible. It is recommended to prepare:

• toilet paper or cardboard;
• dishwashing detergent;
• water;
• flour.

The paper is torn into small pieces and sent to a container. 2 tbsp. of water and 8-10 tbsp. of dishwashing liquid are poured in there. Everything is thoroughly mixed to obtain a homogeneous mass, then 1.5 tbsp. of flour is added. The slime should acquire a thick consistency to be ready for use.

Slime with dishwashing liquid

Despite the fact that the recipe includes quite a large number of components, it is easy to prepare. This is another way to make yourself a paper slime. So, you will need:

• thin toilet paper;
• dishwashing liquid – 25 ml;
• film mask – 15 ml;
• nasal drops – 5 ml;
• any dye.

The cooking process is as follows:

1. “Fairy” or another cleaning agent is poured into the prepared container.
2. The paper is crushed into small pieces and added to the detergent.
3. These components are thoroughly mixed to ensure that the paper dissolves as much as possible.
4. A film mask is added to them, and after it, pharmacy drops, which act as a thickener.
5. The dye is added and the entire mixture is stirred until smooth.

From toilet paper, shampoo and salt

Slimes made according to this recipe are distinguished by good viscosity and elasticity. To prepare them, you will need to combine shampoo with a small amount of water, mix well and add shredded toilet paper. Then add some salt and drops for the eyes or nose.

From toilet paper and soap with starch

To make slime, you will need cornstarch, water and a bar of soap. Grind half of the bar using a grater, pour into a small saucepan, fill with water and put on the stove. After light heating, when the soap dissolves in water, add dye if desired and then add starch in small portions.

The finished slime will have a dense structure and an unusual appearance.

Easy Hairspray Slime

The ingredients are:

• dye;
• PVA glue;
• soda;
• hairspray.

The main condition is compliance with the cooking technology, which involves several stages:

1. The glue is poured into a pre-prepared container.
2. Hairspray is sprayed into it, stirring regularly as it is added.
3. The dye is carefully introduced in liquid or dry state.
4. The varnish is sprayed again until the mass begins to harden.
5. At the end of the procedure, baking soda is added.

Slime with PVA glue

This option is distinguished by the use of a large amount of toilet paper. To obtain a good result, it is recommended to strictly adhere to the proportions:

• toilet paper – 15 cm;
• shampoo – 2 tbsp. l.;
• water – 25 ml;
• glue – 5 tbsp;
• nasal drops or contact lens solution – 2 tbsp;
• acrylic paint – 0.5 tsp.

Pour shampoo into the container, then water. Mix these two components with a soft sponge and turn into foam. Then add small pieces of paper to the mixture, which is thoroughly mixed so that they dissolve as much as possible. When the toilet paper softens, you can slowly add glue and paint, mix everything again. Finally, add nasal drops, which act as a thickener.

Tips for Beginners on Making Toys at Home

Often, when creating a slime, beginners may encounter a number of problems that everyone should be aware of:

• The shaving gel or shampoo does not fit a specific recipe. In this case, it is recommended to replace the main component or try replacing it with another brand.
• Insufficient thickener added. Soda, starch, flour and other bulk substances should be added in small quantities with regular stirring.
• Poor mixing. To get a good slime, it is recommended to mix all ingredients for at least 5 minutes.

How to care for and store a toy at home

In order for the slime to serve for a long time and retain its original shape, it is necessary to follow certain recommendations for its care. Its surface is sticky, which means that it can stick to itself debris and dust, so you should take the toy with clean hands and play with it on a clean surface. Contact with fabric, wool, carpet will quickly spoil the slime.

If the humidity in the room is low and the slime quickly begins to dry out, you can fix the situation. To do this, you will need to place it in a sealed container and add a few drops of water. Conversely, if the humidity is high, you should place the mass in a container with a small amount of salt and shake it gently.

Making slime at home is a fairly simple and fun activity that every child will enjoy. The key to an excellent result is using proven recipes and following the recommendations for their preparation.
