How to sew a children's purse from fabric with your own hands using a pattern and the following diagram:
- Prepare a sewing machine with a straight feed and two feet for regular stitching and for working with a zipper;
- Prepare a cutting ruler (or a regular one), a rolling knife (scissors), two different colored fabrics, threads that match the color scheme, hand needles, pins, adhesive interlining, a ring for fastening, a zipper and a snap fastener;
- If desired, purchase decorative elements.
Dimensions according to the pattern when folded: 11*9 cm, height of the lid and compartment for small items – 7.5 cm.
The length of the cut is:
- Lid height – 7.5 cm,
- Main body – 9 cm,
- Pocket height - 7.5 cm,
- Allowances - 2 cm,
- The height of the inner pocket is 7.5 cm,
- Bend to the face - 2 cm,
- Allowances – 2 cm.
All components of the length add up to 37 cm.
And the width is 13 cm, where the width of the wallet is 11 cm + 2 cm for allowances.
You will need two pieces of fabric measuring 37*13 cm, which will then need to be divided into 2 pieces measuring 13*11 cm and 2 pieces measuring 26*13 cm. Also: a small piece for the strap and zipper trim (approximately 2*10 cm)
Sewing plan:
- First, the top panel is decorated: the top part of the wallet is cut out so that after stitching, the resulting part is equal to the back part.
- Decorative elements are sewn together, ironed and decorated with ribbon.
- The parts are glued with interlining, folded together with the wrong sides together, and aligned.
- The zipper is processed: two pieces are sewn on both sides at a distance of 10 cm from each other, iron them.
- Pieces of 13*11 cm are sewn together face to face, a zipper is placed between them. The zipper should go from left to right. Then these parts are basted and sewn on the machine.
- Turn inside out and iron.
- The same process (stitching) is done with large pieces of fabric, the excess pieces of the zipper are cut off. Then a neat stitch is made on both sides of the zipper.
- Carefully fold the lower short pieces with the right sides facing and stitch them straight. The resulting edge is folded inward to a height of 7.5 cm and ironed.
- Smooth out the resulting solid piece and stitch almost along the edge.
- Time for decoration: attach the ring to the chain.
- The long parts are laid out in different directions so that the seam from the bottom of the wallet remains in the middle. At the place of the belt loop, the ring is attached inward to the inside of the wallet.
- The pieces are folded with the right sides facing inward, aligned and secured with pins.
- Sew the details, leaving a window of 4-5 cm from the edge. The excess is cut off.
- Using a stick, turn out all the corners (not scissors!).
- The wallet is ironed.
- A button is added for fastening. Then the entire product is decorated as desired.
Purse "Kitty"
Such wallets look funny, attracting attention. Both mothers and children will like them. In addition, you will not need much fabric to sew them. If desired, you can increase the size, then the wallet can be transformed into a pencil case, cosmetics, and even a handbag.
Necessary elements for sewing:
- The main fabric, it is better to choose bright samples of unusual colors;
- Lining fabric;
- Lightning;
- Buttons of unusual designs;
- Embroidery floss;
- Needles, scissors.

- Transfer the pattern onto the fabric; there should be 2 pieces of each piece.
