Slime is a children's toy that was first invented and released for sale in America. In Russia, it has a more familiar name, "lizun". It resembles mucus, which can be transparent or colored, and is made from jelly-forming ingredients. It is not harmful to health, but you need to use it carefully: avoid getting it on mucous membranes. This article describes in detail how to make slime at home from foam.

Features of such a slime

You can make a slime at home.

Slime from PVA and foam without tetraborate

2. Foam is added. Its quantity in relation to soap and glue is also measured empirically. But approximately 3-4 tbsp.

6. If the resulting object is still sticky, then it is worth adding a little more soda - a little less than one teaspoon to start with.

From shaving foam and gel

A basic component is needed. Slime with sodium tetraborate and foam, due to chemical properties, has more advantages.

• First, the glue is poured into a container and stirred.
• Pour out 1 tsp. gel.
• A thickener, tetraborate, is added.

With toothpaste and shaving foam

Any paste will do.

1. The required amount of paste is squeezed into the container.
2. The foam is poured in and stirred until it begins to thicken.
3. Cool in the refrigerator for 20 minutes, then knead until fully cooked.

How to use starch

In this case, starch acts as a thickener, because it swells from moisture.

1. 1-2 tablespoons of starch are poured into a bowl.
2. Pour out a little glue and mix.
3. Combine water, glue and foam, then mix everything together.
4. Cool in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes.

How to Make Slime with Glue and Shampoo Foam

Making slime from foam and glue is easy, which is why it is one of the most popular methods.

You will need foam, water, shampoo, salt (50 g) and glue.

1. Foam is placed into the container.
2. A little water is added - by eye.
3. After mixing, add another 15 ml of shampoo, two pinches of salt and a little (also by eye) of glue. The composition is mixed again.
4. The resulting mixture is left in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes.

With light plasticine

Another way is a slime made from plasticine. It has a special advantage - no dyes are needed, because the pieces of plasticine are bright in themselves.

The base is light plasticine (sometimes called airy).

1. You can take one piece - the standard is 100 g, but this depends on the desired size of the final product - or divide it equally and take several different colors.
2. The easiest and fastest method is to mix with water and powder.
3. The water needs to be warmed up a little.
4. Place the plasticine in a container and fill it with water for about half an hour.
5. Leave it to stand like this, and then simply knead it with your hands to distribute the moisture.
6. Add shampoo and stir again (1-1.5 tsp.)
7. Then add foam (3-4 tbsp). The item will be very sticky, so it is better to add baby powder when kneading.

With laundry soap

Laundry soap is not the most popular ingredient due to its hardness, but it can also be used.

First, the soap needs to be crumbled and dissolved in water. Before that, it is advisable to cut it into several pieces to make the work easier - with a blade or knife. You can grind it with a kitchen grater. It is difficult to say exactly how much water will be needed, you have to choose empirically.

Mix everything together and leave for about 2 hours until you get a homogeneous mass. It should resemble sour cream in consistency.

Such a slime will be durable due to the properties of the cosmetic item. You won't have to get rid of the stickiness either.

With boric acid

You will need foam, boric acid and PVA glue. Making such a toy is almost as easy as making slime from foam and glue.

1. At the beginning of preparing slime, foam and glue are mixed.
2. If desired, the mass can be colored by adding a few drops of boric acid.
3. All this is mixed again until a completely non-sticky substance is obtained. Afterwards, it is kneaded with hands.

With additional material

Balls and beads, confetti and glitter are suitable for decorating the "slime". They can be added to any slime - foam-based, with glue and starch, and they will give the toy a unique look.

Homemade toys usually last less (from a few days to a couple of months) than store-bought ones (six months to a year). Therefore, it is important to treat them with care.

The result of improper use and storage is easy to notice: the first sign is hardening, which is easy to prevent. To keep the slime from losing its elasticity, first of all, it should be stored in a separate, tightly closed container. This prevents the ingress of both unnecessary, dirty objects and air, excess moisture.

If you can't find a container of the right size, you can use a sealed bag. The main thing is that it closes tightly. This prevents moisture from evaporating and the object from hardening.

It is important to consider the temperature. The optimal storage temperature is from +5 to +10 degrees Celsius. The toy may react to overheating by becoming cloudy. The best place to maintain these conditions is a refrigerator, which also prevents sunlight from getting in.
