Choice of fabric

Simple

First, you need to make triangle ABCD.

Product width. The sides of the rectangle AB and DC are equal to ½ the chest circumference according to the measurement with allowances: AB = DC = 46 cm + allowances.

Length. The sides of the rectangle AD and BC are equal to 100 cm.

Depth. From point A down, plot the armhole depth with allowances and mark point O.
From point O, draw a line to the right to the intersection with BC and mark O1.

Waist line. From mark A down make 42 cm and put point K. From it to the right make a line to the intersection with BC, this will be the value K1.

Hips of the product. From K, lower 22 cm down and mark point H, from it to the right, lower the line to the intersection with BC and put H1. This is a pattern for size S, it will change depending on the parameters.

Dress pattern with wings

There is no general pattern here. The front and back can be taken from an old T-shirt, the only difference will be in the neckline. Slightly edit the back. Divide it into 2 equal parts, cutting in half. Then add 3 cm (for the zipper), the product is suitable for heights from 160 to 175 cm. You can sew the same dress for a girl, then the size will be about 110 cm.

With one-piece short sleeves

Step by step construction:

• The work begins with a drawing. On an A4 sheet, make a straight line equal to the distance from the waist to the bottom of the product;
• The darts are made smaller, and the armhole is increased by 2 cm along the back;
• Draw lines through the new points towards the cuts on the canvas;
• The shoulder cut line at the armhole is raised - by 1 cm in front, by 0.8 cm in the back;
• From the end of the shoulder, measure about 8 cm for the neckline.

Short dress with one sleeve

The drawing requires a basic pattern of the product.

From left to right, make a line for sewing the sleeve. It goes through the entire front pattern to the right side point. The length is chosen at the person's discretion.

Starting from the hem of the garment, make a roll-out line and a right strap. Its width is approximately 5 cm. A frill will be made on the bodice. Measure the length of this line, add 15 cm for gathering. You need to draw a spiral of the required length. Measure the required size of the frill. This already depends on the style of the sundress. Four elements will be cut out for the frill.

Before creating a drawing, you need to take measurements of the figure.

Measurements to take:

• Length of shoulder, front and back to waist line;
• Size ½ waist, chest, hips and neck.

Summer dress pattern with short sleeves

The pattern of a summer dress for beginners is made according to a simple drawing. Make the top of the drawing with point A. From it to the right, put a horizontal line, and make a vertical line down.

Drawing instruction:

• AB = 5 cm (one size). Make a neckline cutout for the back AB;
• ВН = 80 cm this will be the length of the sundress according to measurements;
• AC = ½ hip circumference = 94/2 = 47cm;
• From the top C draw a line down, from point H to the right make a horizontal segment and mark it as H1;

Godet dress

The godet pattern is made without allowances, with an addition of 0.5 cm to the cuts when sewing on a classic machine, if sewing on an overlock, up to 2 cm is added.

Make a belt 180 cm long and 10 cm wide (5.5 cm when finished).

Dress without fastening

The length of the product along the back is approximately 100 cm. The work begins with the pattern of the back. It is advisable to deepen the neckline by 4 cm, and the armhole by 2 cm. From the extreme shoulder line, make 4 cm to the left along the shoulder seam, then measure 2 cm - the shoulder size of the sundress. Make a neckline of the back and an armhole point. From it, lower the waist line and cut off the bodice.

Additionally, make a one-piece back measuring 5 cm; the product is made with an adhesive lining.

With floral print

For the pattern, a basic sarafan is taken, it can be short or long. Only the fabric is purchased with a floral print, it can be either all over the fabric or only on the front part. There is no need to choose geometric flowers, as they are more difficult to sew without breaking the line.

With wide sleeves

The length of the product from the waist is approximately 80 cm. To construct the pattern, transfer all the elements of the dress separately onto tracing paper.

From the front neckline, draw 5 cm down along the center front line. Draw a horizontal segment to the right and mark point B.

From it, draw 1 cm upwards and make the front bodice line slightly rounded. Measure segment AB along the armhole and transfer it to the back. Make a horizontal line through segment B. From mark B, draw 1 cm upwards and make a smooth front bodice line.

With ascot collar

To create a drawing, you can take the basic pattern of the dress, only add allowances of about 4 cm. Basically, the ascot collar is sewn separately from the dress, in the form of a scarf. It can be tied in different ways, with or without a bow. This pattern is shown in the photo below.

Simple dress pattern for plus size women

Some women who are overweight are very worried about this. If you sew the right dress, it will help not only to hide the flaws of the figure, but also to emphasize its advantages and forms. Many women, by mistake, give preference to tight dresses, thinking that this will visually help to hide voluminous places.

In fact, everything is the other way around: curvy shapes can only be removed with loose clothing styles, while skinny figures require tight-fitting garments. It is not advisable to use rhinestones or beads for full figures, as this will make the appearance heavier. It is advisable to sew from viscose, and it is recommended to avoid wrap-around styles. Dress with draped waist

On the front drawing, make a 3 cm deepening for the neckline, shorten the shoulder to 10 cm. Draw a new armhole section and neckline. From the hip point, draw 8 cm down and narrow the side seam of the front by 2 cm.

Here, too, the narrowing is done as on the front. The neckline of the back is made from the middle of the waist tangent to the neckline of the back to the point of the shoulder. These dresses are also called tulip dresses.

Summer dress with straps

It is advisable to take light materials that will not stick to the body. First, cut out the front and back of the product with allowances of 1.5 cm. Allowances along the hem of the sundress are not needed, the pattern should be positioned so that there are scallops at the bottom.

From the lining material in the same color, make the front and back of the sundress according to one pattern with side allowances of 1.5 cm. Also do not make allowances for the armholes.

For the straps and neckline decoration you will need scalloped satin, approximately 80 cm.

Dress with a full half-sun skirt

The pattern for a dress with a skirt is the easiest to make because you only need to take two measurements - the waist circumference and the length of the skirt itself.

There is no need to make a pattern for a half-sun dress on paper. After taking the necessary measurements, the patterns can be applied to the fabric using soap or a textile marker.

Sequence of cutting and sewing

Step-by-step work process:

• Prepare all small and decorative elements: collars, pockets, cuffs, etc. Iron well with a hot iron;
• Make the back, process and cut off the excess on the part;
• Prepare the front of the dress: process and stitch the trim elements;
• Prepare the skirt (if it is separate from the dress): process the seams, folds and hem of the skirt, decorate the side cuts;
• Prepare the sleeves, process the seams.

Dress assembly:

1. Sew the back and front along the shoulder lines;
2. Sew on the collar or process the neck, attach the fasteners. For ease and practicality of performing these actions, it is advisable to sew in the collar before processing the side seams of the dress;
3. Sew the side seams of the front and back;
4. Treat the hem of the dress;
5. Sew on the sleeves;
6. Sew the chest (bodice) and skirt;
7. Iron the finished product;
8. Decorate as desired.
